The" team ks, wheeze, pretty good.” ese were the words otf one of our returning basket- ball players as I trotted along beside him scribbling madly. (I was on my first lap, he was on his twenty-first!) Later in the day while sitting beside a solid-looking returning wrestler I stared in amazement at his muscles and his lunch of lettuce and celery greens. “Have to lose 15 pounds,” was his nonchalant answer to my quizzical look regarding the meal. “The wrestling team really looks promising this year. We have a lot of new and returning talent,”” was this athlete’s final comment before beginning his . humble repast. “I can’t find my cute little, lucky blue basketball socks. I have to have my blue socks! What willl do! ’” After I calmed this poortysterical girl basket- ball player down and found her socks for her I inquired as to what the team’s Prospects were this year, “We might get new uniforms - oh, yomgmean talent wise. Well, oui returning players have bounced right back into shape ‘and our new players show a lot of promise.”’ I took my leave at this point since our basketball player wasealready beginning to mumble to herself again about, “Where did I put those nice white ribbons . . .” NEW National Education Week was observed during the last week at the high school. Students and faculty were on their best be- havior in ‘case any interested parent dropped in. Students learned the importance of edu- cation from lectures given in recognition of the week. CHORISTERS The Dallas High School High Choristers will perform tonight (Thursday) for “the Kiwanis Club. We know the group will do, as always, an excellent job. They are directed by Mrs. Florence Sherwood. PATRON DRIVE Seniors — We need money if our yearbook is to be a success this year. If every senior would collect just seven dollars, we would reach our goal. SPIRIT CAKE A pep rally was held last Fri- day to promote spirit for the Central game. The cheerlead- ers made a spirit cake with ingredients of football co-cap- tains Dick Morgan and Dave Jenkins, topped with sugar, eggs, and flour. A tasty combi- nation to ‘‘egg” us on with spirit. PILLOW TALK The seniors will present their annual play, entitled ‘Pillow Talk,” on Thursday and Friday nights, November 21 and 22. Tickets cost just 50 cents, and students are requested to attend the Thursday night perform- ance. Congratulations to the follow- ing who madé District Chorus for this year: Beth Sheehan, Brian Beard, Jim Pichert, Chuck LaBerge, and Ernie Gelb. The following students taped their VFW, “Voice of Democ- racy’’ speeches this week: Reba Brody, Connie Edwards, Mark Hicks, Warren Boyes, Charles Wasserott, Brian Beard, Scott Peterman, and Joan Domnick.
