CUFF STUFF continued from PAGE 2 Screams upstairs. The car door slams out front. Silence upstairs. Silence? Come on guys, don’t stop fighting now! Silence. A tap at the window. Dale and Bruce exit through the back door, and run around front where they are confronted with this ancient, old policeman. They explain the situation. “So haven't you heard a man and wife fight before?” Cop asks. Further explanation. The man was trying to beat down their door. “Ah, he’s just drunk.” Said the wise old man. “I know he’s drunk.” Bruce says. “You don’t need to tell me he’s drunk.” Suddenly, Thumper appears at the front door. (Organ music in again). Grandfather cop goes over and tells him to calm down . and stop yelling and hollaring. Thumper says he’s not yelling and hollaring. Thumper is lying. The cop tells him he is bothering the neighbors. Thumper looks at Bruce and Dale with a mean look in his eye, and he says, “If those two guys don’t stay away from my wife, I'm going to bother them. Bruce looks at Dale. 235 pounds — fat, ugly slob. Dale looks at Bruce. 135 pounds — the other little creep. Things are beginning to fit together. (Fade for a detergent com- mercial.) The policemen said okay, but Thumper should go back up- stairs. He did. The policeman says he’ll see us around. Bruce and, Dale mutter, ‘‘Yeah; thanks for all your help.” They go inside. Dale says “he’s going to the bathroom. Bruce says he’s not staying there alone. They go to the bathroom. No one knows how Thumper got the idea that they were fool- ing around with his wife. The most romantic thing she ever did for them was to tell them what night to put the garbage out. But Bruce was kind of flattered. He never thought any- one would accuse him of mes- sing around with somebody's wife. Le Two days later the wife apolo- gized to the two fellows, and said she knows her husband has a better side. They told her they hoped her black eye healed soon. " That same day, Brice left the apartment forever. He will be student teaching at a different school. Dale must stay there until January. The organ music comes in again as Bruce drives off in the distance. Dale waves and weak- ly mutters the words . . . “See Ya'!” St. Therese has turkey party St. Therese’s Holy name So- ciety will hold its Annual Tur- key Party Tuesday evening, November 19 at 8 p.m., in the church basement.
