Mr. and Mrs. Lester Moss, Upper Demunds Road, have returned home after visiting their daughter, Louise | Souder and family, in Old-Bridge, N. J., over the past weekend. Jule Wilson's sister Marie, Studio City, Calif., and another sister Patti, Compton, Calif, flew in by jet a week ago Monday to. be with Jule during her operation, and returned to California last Sunday. ELLA MOORE CLASS Monthly meeting of Ella Moore: Class of East Dallas Church, wes held in the church parlor, Tuesday evening, October 12th. Helen Siley had charge of devotions. Bette Kintzer presided. After the busi- ness session, “Happy Birthday” was sung to Mrs. Elva Miller, Mary Ry- man and Alverna Lamoreux. A birthday cake with candles was en- joyed by the three, but Mrs. Miller's was on that day (the other two were past) so she was honored with a shower of small gifts which cer- tainly surprised and pleased her. “It was the first birthday party she had ever had,” she said. . Present were Gladys Brace, Jeanette Dickinson, Mary Ryman, Helen Siley, Freda Hughey, Bette and Dorothy Kintzer, Elva Miller, Jessie Moore, Myra Carlin, Alverna Lamoreux, Beatrice wand Irene Moore. An Autumn Tea will be held in the church parlor, November 11th, 8 p.m. Beatrice and Jessie Moore are chairman and co-chairman. A program, refreshments and a bake sale will be the features of the eve- ning. Mrs. Gladys Brace is visiting her daughter Barbara, and son Ken- neth, and families in Maryland and Washington, for an indefinite time. Last Wednesday was a day of days for me. ' First my brother-in- law’s brother, Fred Hawke and wife Janet from Ashley, visited me and we went out in the country and bought and trimmed, get this, thirty eight heads of cabbages, to | make saur kraut. They really en- joyed our country. Then Lucy Morgan had dinner with me (by prearrangement). Then my sister- in-law Ollie Moore came for a short visit — we live so close yet so far, that we seldom visit in one an- other's homes; daughter-in-law Hil- da ran across the lot for a few words with Lucy and Ollie. Just after they left’ — a cousin and his | wife, Paul and Althea Wehr from Allentown, whom I had not seen: in over twenty years —sought and found me. Mrs. Nulton is in Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, N. Y. She visited Jeanette Dickin- son and family, in East Dallas, when she was in the neighborhood, attending the funeral of Earl John- son, a relative. Our friend was 82 years her last birthday and I am sure she would appreciate hearing from her friends in Bast Dallas. Lanceford (Lanny) - Carlin, his wife and her grandmother, all from Johnson City, visited his aunt, Myra Carlin and Jeanette Dickin- son and family Sunday. Peggy Kasmark, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben. Kasmark, Ransom Road, student at Medical Secre- terial School in Harrisburg, spent the weekend with her parents. She said everybody in the school and rooming house is so nice and kind to her and her pal, who were strangers there. FRIENDSHIP CLASS Friendship Class of East Dallas Methodist Church met last Monday at ‘the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert M.. Moore. Mrs. Virginia Howell, Vice-president presided in the ‘absence of their President, Marella Stanton. Mrs. Russell Ockenhouse was in charge of devo- tions. The class took to selling tooth brushes. Promoted To Rank of Cadet Serg'nt Major Robert G. Peterson, of Shrine Acres, Dallas, has been promoted to the rank of Cadet Sergeant Major in the Reserve Officer Training Corps at Bucknell University. In his new assignment, Peterson will serve in the Cadet ROTC A senior at Bucknell this year, Cadet Peterson is enrolled in the advanced -army ROTC program. As such he will be eligible to accept a commission as second lieutenant in the reserve component of the reg- ular army following the successful completion of his studies in Military Science and graduation from the university. Cadet Peterson is studying for ‘the degree of BA .in Business Ad- ministration. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Don A, Peterson.
