Cheryl Jorseshoe Club collected a total of | thir sixteen awards at the District 4-H | 2 | from the Horseshoe Club compete dorse Show held in Dalton last Saturday. Eleven of the prizes were tor first and second place, entitling the winners to compete in the State 3-H Horse Show in Noyember. | It was a cold, windy day in Dal- ton as the horse show gct under way. The weather did not dim the enthusiasm of the ninety three competing 4-H'rs, however. The youngsters represented six Penn- sylvania counties, Wyoming, -Sus- quehanna, Lackawanna, Wayne, Bradford, and Luzerne. Seven mem- bers of the Luzerne team were from the Back Mountain. Connie Bogdon once again led the local club in placings, collect- ing three firsts and three seconds. The firsts came in Grooming and | Showmanship, Hunter Seat Equi- She took seconds in Hunter Seat | Equitation over Fences, Hunter Hack, and Open Trail. Also collecting firsts = for the Horseshoe Club were Linda MeKeel, Leslie Vivian, and Debby Post. Lin-' da won her first in Hunter Hack and added a second in Hunter Seat Equitation to it. Leslie placed first in Hunter Seat Equitation over Fences. She also won fourth in English Pleasure over 14 hands. Debbie won her blue ribbon in { Lacy. Three other girls added ribbons | | to the club bag. Amy Robinson! | placed second in English Pleasure under 14 Hands, and Erica Vivian | took fifth in English Pleasure ove Deets place, d in Western Pleasure and fift ., in Stock Seat Equitation. Five local girls will go on tc represent the district at the Stati! 4-H Horse Show in Harrisburg November 13 - 14. They are Conn. Bogdon, Linde Mekeel, Leslie Vi- vian, Debby Post, and Amy Robin- son. Competiticn in the Dalton show was limited to those 4-H'rs whe won top honors in their county round-ups. Entries in the Harris- burg show is similarly restricte to the two top riders in each clas at the district shows, By this pro- cess of elimination, the state win- ners are chosen. The entire Horseshoe Club in-~ tends to ride in the ‘horse show at the Rotary Fall Fair. Note - - The State Dairy Show was held in Harrisburg this week, the 14th through 17th.
