ssh NE — THE DALLAS POST — THURSDAY, MAY 7, 1964 1% A Bicycle Built For Two Gus and Rosemary Kabeschat are shown above ready for a pleasant excursion through the Back Mountain country. Their daughter, Sandy, is patiently waiting while Mom and Dad get the “bicycle built for two” in position. The Kabeschats Enjoy Traveling By Bicycle When most people, on Sunday afternoon, are out driving in their cars on the busy highways, Gus and Rosemary Kabeschat and Sandy can be found clocking up the miles around the Hedden Circle on their bikes. The Kabeschats, avid bike en- thusiasts, have had many pleasant picnic outings traveling to the coun- try side on their bikes. But, they usually travel in early Spring and late Fall before the summer traffic starts and after the summer rush on the highways. The story of the “tandem bike” that Rosemary and Gus now use is a humorous one. It was a Father’s Day giftto Gus, from Rosemary and Sandy, but the big problem was where to hide it until unveiled on Father’s Day Morn of last year. Nextdoor neigh- bor, Miss Margaret Wood, came to the rescue and it was delivered to her home and stored in herstorage room. Of course, the big mystery in the neighborhood when it was de- livered was, “What is Miss Wood going to do with the “bicycle built for two. The Bob Botsfords, across the street, wondered for weeks until Miss Wood wheeled it out of hiding, Father’s Day Morn, and parked it in the Kabeschats’ EE oe <A EE << Er Ee aE INO BREAKAGE | WORRY! driveway adorned with a great big bow. However, more than the fun fac- tor that the bikes give is the health factor, for Gus and Rosemary agree it’s the best exercise ever, and us- ually after bike riding, you can walk for miles. Many an evening after the bikes are wheeled in, that’s just what they do. Electric Home: Everything Nice What are total electric homes made of? For the ever-growing two-wheel set, Spring is their time. Away hockey sticks and sleds, away boots, skis and galoshes, and out with the faithful two-wheelers. Spring biking gets an added boost this year in the person of the youngest of the young-in-heart, Dr. Paul Dudley White. As National Chairman of American Bike Month this May, Dr. White is calling for all America to join him. He says, “The bicycle can undoubtedly add years to life, and health to those years. Some of the happiest hours of my life have been spent on a bike. It has kept me young in mind and body.” It will do the same for you. Dr: White has joined the dam- paign this May because he believes in its merit. He believes it is worth- while. He also believes, as he has said so often, “Cycling is one of the best ways to achieve and main- tain physical fitness.” Throughout May, Dr. White will be campaigning for more cycling for fun and good health by people of all ages, and for inreased cycl- ing facilities - more bike paths and trails in our parks and recreation area, more bike tracks, more safe cycling routes in our towns and cities - more opportunity for Ameri- ca’s legions of riders to enjoy their health giving sport in safety and pleasure. The whole nation, we think, not just bike riders and their parents, should salute Dr. White for his un- selfish dedication to the health and happiness of others.- And wouldn’t American Bike Month be a good time for us to look around our own town, survey ‘our own facilities, and see what we can do to make our own area a safer and happier place for our many riders? Mr. Kerlin, a resident of Kunkle for over fifteen years, is former salesman for Miller Chemical and Fertilizer Corporation. It is a house in which these abstract terms will mean even more in the future. A total electric house is not made of gingerbread but it does epitomize another kind of good taste —the sense of a well-ordered life—and a well-managed one. It is slickly effi- cient but not gadgety —flameless electric appliances, whether they heat, cook, wash, dry or heat water, fit compactly and blend superbly whether in use or not. The air in a total electric home is different. It smells fresh and clean. Surfaces stay dust free longer, colors remain bright, and the life expectancy of your upholstery and drapery fabrics is much greater. Your own life in a total electric home is different. Your sleep is never distrubed by the sizzle of a radiator. This is a quiet house as well as a more efficient one. The homemaker with a well managed schedule in a total electric home can be an expert laundress, or chef and never show signs of drudgery in her face, figure or clothing. So what are total electric homes made of? Perhaps a bit of sugar and spice— But the joy of total electric living Is what really makes them nice.
