Luzerne Electric Division of The United Gas Improvement Company voluntarily filed with the Pennsylvania P’ ublie Utility Commission on September 9, 1963, new electric rates which will re- duce the cost of electricity for home heating, water heating, and for all usage by general Residential customers in excess of 600 KWH per month . . . and a brand new rate for outdoor lighting. The new rates will become effective on September 15, 1963. 3 "NEW TOTAL ELECTRIC LIVING RATE Under the new total electric living rate for residential customers using electricity as the sole method of heating, cooking, and water heating, with other general uses, all electricity over 600 KWH per month will be billed at 1.35¢ per KWH. OUTDOOR LIGHTING SERVICE 'A’ new 7000 lumen mercury vapor lamp outdoor “dusk to dawn” lighting service, ideal for illuminating driveways, lawns, parking lots, farmyards and similar premises requiring widespread lighting for safety, conveni- ence and protection is now available for private customers at a flat rate of $4.00 monthly, including electricity, installation on existing pole and maintenance. With these latest reductions the cost of electric service is an even bigger bargain than ever before.
