OPTOMETRIST 5 Main Street PAGE THIRTEEN Bird Club Plans For Bird Count Audubon Tour Will Be December 27 The Library Bird Club decided at Thursday night's meeting in the Library Annex, to follow procedure ! of the Audubon Society in taking a bird-count two days after Christ- mas. Members will meet at the Acme parking lot December 27 at 8 a.m. and visit spots where winter birds congregate, starting at Har- veys Lake, taking in Huntsville, Lehman, and possibly Perrins Marsh and Ceasetown. Edwin Johnson, president, re- ported that an average of twenty species are seen commonly, and that with all members on the alert, more varieties may be sighted. Snow buntings are around, and several pileated woodpeckers, also I? rare variety of junco. { Harry Allen reported boat-tail i grackles and siskins sighted, and a | goldfinch which winters over his porch light. The Sunday following the Bird | Club meeting was a good one for bird-watching. Frank Jackson, Ed Johnson, and Mr. Allen saw a num- ber of varieties and in larger flocks than usual. Half a dozen evening grosbeaks came to Mr. Allen’s feed- ing station, advance scouts for the | invasion to be expected late in January.
