He is called the “forgotten man’ because the only time most bowlers think of him is at the beginning of the season when the team captain makes his annual visit to collect a check for the league entry fee and to “put on the bite for bowlers’ shirts. These “angels” of bowlers will soon begin wondering if the investment is worthwhile. Under present conditions in this community, we must consider that bowling teams are sponsored be- cause. of friendship or whatever good-will may be gained from the bowling hall. There are many fays in which league members can let their spon- sors know that they appreciate his interest in bowling. If a bowler has occasion to do business with a mer- chant who has sponsored a team in your league, he should let the mer- chant know that he is given patron- age because he has helped to make the league possible. Make a prac- tice of keeping in touch with the sponsor. Let him know how the league is going, how many games his team has won. Invite him down to watch his team bowl, let him get acquainted with the other mem- bers of the team and make him feel that the team wants him to have a personal interest in the team and its progress.
