Peti- tions were filed this week by Atty. D. O. Coughlin, solicitor for the peti- tioners. Notice was served upon other residents of Kingston township, through advertising notices in Wilkes- Barre papers, that a majority of the freeholders living in the village of Shavertown have signed the petition. The desire on the part of Shaver. town residents to have a borough, is an outgrowth of the recent contention over school matters in Kingston town- ship. Residents of the Shavertown section were indensed because a representa- tiv from their community was not el- ected to the school board at the gen- eral election and also because an in- junction was served restraining the school board from purchasing the Shaver plot in Shavertown for the erection of a new high school build- ing.
