On Thursday night of last week, three ten pin games were pulled off between t ie Salisbury and Berlin clubs, on the Salisbury alleys. All three games were won by the Salisbury club, Berlin be- ing beaten by a total of 332 pins in the three games. The Meyersdale bowling club has thrown up the sponge, forfeited its money and dropped out of the league, owing to its inability to hold its own with the other league clubs. Death of James Irvin Miller. The subject of this sketch, a most exemplary and intelligent young man of Elk Lick township, died in a Johns- town hospital. last Saturday night, of typhoid fever. Deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel P. Miller, who reside at Springs. He had been teaching school near Johnstown, but was stricken down by typhoid fever, some weeks ago, which proved fatal. The remains were sent to his home, last Sunday, and on Tuesday, at 10 o’clock a. m., the funeral service was held at the Springs Mennonite church. conducted by Rev. S. G. Shetler, of near Johnstown. 3 Deceased was aged nearly 21 years, and his death is greatly deplored by all who knew him. He was a consistent and faithful member of the Mennonite church, and was a young man of rare good qualities. He is survived by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. DIPHTHERIA IS TRACTED. Harry Bepler is a genial, good-hearted young man, and he holds a good cleri- cal position with the Somerset Coal Company, which he fills with ability and credit to himself and satisfaction to the company. The bride is a comely young woman with a host of friends in and about Salisbury, and is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Newman. The father of the groom and the father of the bride are both dead, but the groom’s mother resides in Allegheny, Pa., and the bride’s mother in Salisbury.
