Easton, who has been in New York ever since about the middle of March, our friend “Scottie” says: “I was sick two weeks after I came here and then had a big boil on my jaw. Now I have a sty on my eye. I have not attended church or Sunday school since coming here. # 1 am working on the great Pennsyl- vania railrond tunnel underneath the Hudson and East rivers. We do drill- ing on water, have a special steamboat ‘with us, and have drillers working in ‘New York, Brooklyn and Jersey City. I am boss over the job, but hired to the P.R.R. Co. by the Rand Drill Com- pany. We have a lot of trouble with the spectators. They crowd around so that we have to call the police. A man came up the other day and stuck his finger in some cogs, which took two of them off, and now he has brought suit for damages. One can have no good time here. They hustle us like hades. I work nearly night and day and some- times go under air lock of 28 pounds per square inch, for hours. There is nothing pleasant about it.” Spring Fever. Spring fever is another name for biliousness. It is more serious than most people think. A torpid liver and inactive bowels mean a poisoned sys- tem. If neglected, serious illness may follow such symptoms. DelWitt’s Lit- tle Early Risers remove all danger by stimulating the liver, opening the bhow- els and cleansing the system of impuri- ties. Safe pills. Nevergripe. "I have taken DeWitt’s Little Early Risers for | torpid liver every spring for years” { writes R. M. Everly, Moundsville, W. { Va. “They do me more good than any- | thing I have ever tried.” E. H. Miller. - ssp Tue idiocy of the American press in chronicling all the trivial atfairs of and happenings to prominent men and their families, is not only deplorable, but it is disgusting. For example, if the President of the United States gets a pain in the belly, or stubs his toes against a curb stone, some papers will write a half column concerning the same. And it’s the same way if one of his children gets the colic or the ear- ache. Some papers are even now heralding the fact to the world that there will soon be an increase in the President’s family, and much senseless gush is being written about it. We don’t know whether the rumor is cor- rect or not, and we don’t eare. Such an event is no more important in the President’s family than in any other family, and furthermore, it’s nobody’s business except that of Mr. Roosevelt and his noble wife. But if some people couldn’t slebber and slop over about all the occurrences in a prominent family, they would surely die, and that’s what they ought to do. Ready to Yield. “I used DeWitt’s Witch Ilazel Salve for piles and found it a certain cure,” says S. R. Meredith, Willow Grove, Del. Operations unnecessary to cure piles. They always yield to DeWitts Witch Hazel Salve. Cures skin diseases, all kinds of wounds. Accept no couuter- feits. E. H. Miller. After Virgil Saylor’s brother was “hornswoggled” for County Superin- tendent, Virgil said the Saylors would be heard from at the primary. Accord- ing to the returns, some of the Saylors heard from the people. F. P. Saylor and Samuel Saylor, for instance. The Saylors are a good many, but they don’t cut much ice. Sea Lucifer Smith warned the miners not to vote for the anti-Scull delegates un- less they wanted armed deputies to shoot them down. He wanted them to vote for Saylor, Housel and Shaffer, but he forgot to tell the miners that one of Mr. Saylor’s sons was one of the armed deputies at the Merchants mines in 1898. Yes, Lucifer forgot that, but the miners didn’t, as the vote in the mining districts shows. Lucifer ought to rub his old dried up pate with a brickbat. Be Not Deceived.
