Neither of the girls I over twenty-one years of ae, und all have bean educated In one of the soldiers' orphan schools of the State. On Christmas they were Invited to take a sleigh ride by a pud ler named John Akley. Tho man was intoxicated and had u bottle of whis ky iu the sleigh, and the girl drank of the liquor freely, The cntiro party becomo shamefully Intoxicated, und the girl begau to abuse their male compunlou. Finnally the unfortunate fellow wus thrown fi-oiu tho sleigh. He was curriud into a house and died the next day. A post-mortem exam ination of tho body proved that the head wa terribly bruised, the bladder ruptured and other organ badly di placed, indicating extraordinary vio lence. Delia Corbett told a neighbor that they had a of a time on Christ ma and "fixed" John Akley, "We threw him out of the sleigh," she said, "and 1 beat him over the head w ith the butt end of a whip. If lie die I guess I'll buy a black dress and go to the funeral." The girls tell the story of tho crimo with wonderful callousness, aud there i no sympathy for them.
