With all our smartness in this age
of ingenuity we have invented noth
ing ttiat can take the slipperiues out
of ice. Heels fly up now as they (lew
up In Adam's day, and a hurt hurts
just as much now as it did then. So,
kind reader, sprinkle with ashes the
pavement near your house, and don't
stop spriukling until the last scuttle

ssrlptural days ashes were Indicative
of lamentation; now they mark out a
pleasant path. Therefore sprinkle
over as much of the Icy sidewalk as
you can.

horrible murder that has ever been
committed in Pennsylvania. Neither

Invited to take a sleigh ride by a pud

becomo shamefully Intoxicated, und
the girl begau to abuse their male

fellow wus thrown fi-oiu tho sleigh.
He was curriud into a house and died
the next day. A post-mortem exam
ination of tho body proved that the
head wa terribly bruised, the bladder
ruptured and other organ badly di
placed, indicating extraordinary vio

that they had a of a time on Christ

threw him out of the sleigh," she
said, "and 1 beat him over the head
w ith the butt end of a whip. If lie

The trial take place this week, and i
the girls will undoubtedly be found
