The same evening Mr. Stoler and wife, Dr. Win. S. Hun ter and his lady friend Lucreita Enyeart all of Saxtou;atid Bruce Spaugler and Maude Baumgard uer of Wells Tannery, landed at the llouck House and spent the evening pleasantly. New (irenada has a person by the name of Jacob Crider, who is contractor now, and has bien for thirteen years carrying the mail from hero to Hopewell aud return daily, a distance of 15 miles. Du ring part of this time, he lived two miles from the postothce here causing him extra travel. Ho, therefore, has traveled in that time a distauce of 1-5, -1:24 miles aud louts favorable yet for as many more miles in f uturd should he continue in the business. One child, a girl 7 years old, had to be left behind and she perished. All possible efforts were made to get to her, but to no avail.
