Lake, .. , Pleasant Hidgo, Pa, ' The Local Newspaper, Did you ever stop to think what an untiring aud steady letter writer a local paper is? Week after week reaching into years, it goes on telling of marriages, births, deaths, the comiug t nd going of people, the successes, the failures, the accidents, crop improvements, parties, revival meetings, socials in fact, events of all kinds. All is grist that comes to the hopper of a lo cal newspaper. Why, if you were to undertake to write a letter each week to an absent friend and tell half the new9 your local paper gives, you would soon give up in despair. The supposed pleasure would soon become n bore. This would be a suitable time to subscrbo for the Fulton County News for a distant friend. It would be better than a letter from home every week. Coughs, Colds and Constipation. Few people realize when taking cough medicines other than Fo ley's Honey and Tar, that they contain opiates which are consti pating besides being unsafe, par ticularly for children. Foley's Honey andTar contains no opiates is safe and sure and will not con stipate. Local Institutes. The third local institute was held at Center, November 27th. Mr. H. Question: "To what grade of pupils would you teach Algebra ?" was opened by S. L. Simpson. Recitations by C ra Weller and Howard Culk-r. Question: "Would you insist on pupils, who do not expect to re ceive more than a common school education, taking up the study of Algebra?" Recitation by Elwood Yeaklo. Question: How do you teach writing?." Recitation by Winnie Slacker. Teachers present, H. Sharpe, S. L. Simpson, C, A. Barton, Bessie Myers and Janet Slaves.
