Coronation Fspansas sf m King. Although lome considerable period must elapse ""before the coronation of King Edward, it will in a short time be necessary for TaTliament to decide upon fhe amount to be scent upon the cere monies, and in this connection the sums voted for preceding coronations are recalled. The first ceremony of the last century, in 1820, when George IV was crowned, cost over $1,200,000, but for that ten years later, on the accession of William IV, only $250,000 was asked. When Queen Victoria's coronation took place the then Government was of opin ion that for a sum of $.150,000 the cele brations could be done without waste, but with suitable luxury. This in creased amount, however, did not satisfy the tradesmen of London, and a depu tation was formed, which, headed by the Marnuis of Londonderry, waited upon t'hc Home Secretary, and while rayinff dint tne solemnity miK'H oe eld lim ine the holiday season, in order that a great number of sightseers might be attracted to the metropolis, hinted that the treasury ought to spend a larger sum than that mentioned. The Ministry, however, considered that $350,000 was ample and refused to in crease the amount. An Incident of Travel. The woman and her children, native Mexicans it was plain, were crying bit terly. "My husband is drunk I" sobbed the woman. "But is this the adequate occasion for such tumultuous grief?" we asked. "Si, senorl" said the woman, in Span ish. "For a bull greaser means an empty larder, don't you know!" We handed her a fresh cigar; it was all the stately etiquette of the country permitted us to do. Nervous Prostration. A Noted Boston Woman Describes its Symptoms and Terrors. Two Severe Cases Cured by Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound. " I am 80 nervous 1 no one ever suffered as I do 1 There isn't a well inch in ray body. I honestly believe my lungs are diseased, my chest pains me so, but I have no cough. I am so weak at my stomach, and have indigestion terribly, and ; palpitation of the heart ; am losing flesh ; and this headache i and backache nearly kills me', and yesterday I had hysterics. " There is a weight in the lower part of my bowels, bearing down all the time, with pains in my groins and thighs I can't sleep, walk, or sit, and blue oh goodness I , I am simply , the most miserable of women." This is a most vivid description of a woman suffering with nervous prostration, caused by inflammation or some other diseased condition of the womb. No woman should allow herself to reach such a perfection of misery when there is no need of it. Read about Miss Williamson's case and how she was cured. Two Bad Oases of Nervous Prostration Cured, "Dear Mrs. Pinkham ; I was suffering such tortures from nervous prostration-that life was a burden. I could not sleep at all, and was too weak to walk across the floor. My heart was affected so that often I could not lie down at all without almost suffocating. I took Lydia E. Two weeks later 11c appeared at the house of bis employer and asked to be relieved from work for a couple of days, when the following conversation took place: "I vould like to get off for about two tays." "I can't spare you unless it is abso lutely necessary. You know you lost several days two weeks ago, anil we are getting behind in the work. What is your necessity for getting off?" in quired the farmer. "Veil, I vas to be married." "Why, Fritz, your wife died only two weeks ago, and now you are about to pet married again. Review ot th First Quarter, Isaiah llll., 1-I2-Ooldea Text, He Is Despised and Rejected of Meo, Isaiah till., i-Summary ol the Twelve Lemons. Introduction. The lessons this quarter embrace but six days in the life of Christ; from Saturday evening, April 1, when He was anointed by Mary at Simon's house, to Friday afternoon, April 7, when He died on the cross and was buried by Jo seph. But what great and stirring events have occurred in that short space of time! Lesson 1. Tonic: Honoring Christ. Dace: Bethany. It i six days before the Passover, and Jesus is at the house of Si mon, the leper. While sitting at meat Mary anoints the head and feet of Christ, using a pound of very precious ointment, valued at. about $j0. The dixciples are indignant, anu think it should have been sold and given to the poor. Jesus re bukes them, and commends the woman very highly. Judas agrees to betray Jesus for thirty pieces of silver, or $10.90. 2. Topic: Christ announced as King. Place: Jerusalem. Jesus and His disci ples journeying toward Jerusalem; two disciples sent to Ilcthphage to secure a colt; the colt is brought to Jesus; the dis ciples spread their garments on the ani mal and set Jesus thereon; the prophecy in Zech. 9: 9 is fulfilled; a great multitude shout "Hosanna!" and spread garments and strew branches in the way; Jesus cleanses the temple; children praise Him. 3. Topic: Christ confirming the faith ot the (ientiles. Place: Jerusalem. The Greeks at the Passover desire to see Jesus. Andrew and Philip tell Jesus; Jesus teaches the people; tells of His death and the glory to follow. As a grain of wheat must die before it bears fruit, so Christ must die in order to save the world. Christ is troubled in soul; God Bpake from heaven. 4. Topic: The great commandment. Place: Jerusalem. Jesus still in the tem ple. The Herodians, Sadducees and Phar isees ask Him hard questions, testing Him. All are silenced. The great commandment is given by Christ. We should love God supremely. Sin, the world and the self life must all be renounced. We should love our. neighbor. Christ questions the Pharisees: How is Christ both the son of David and also David's Lord? 5. Topic: The duty of watching. Place: Mount of Olives. The subjects of Christ's kingdom are likened to ten virgins. Christ is the Bridegroom, and the oil represents the grace of God. The foolish virgins had the lamp of profession, but lacked oil true spiritual life. They endeavored to make good their preparation at the last moment, but it was too late. The wise are the true Christians who not only had a profession, out the love of God in the soul. 6. Topic: The duty and reward of faith fulness. Place: Mount of Olives. The tal ents are given and the master takes his journey. Two servants make a large gain, the third buries his talent. The master's reti: 'n, though delayed, is certain. So Christ will surely come ugain. Two serv ants come to their master and bring the talents given them and as many more. They arc commanded and rewarded. The idle servant has no increase, but hard say ings and excuses. He is cast into outer darkness. 7. Topic: Christ our Passover. Place: Jerusalem. It was Thursday; Jesus sent Peter and John to Jerusalem to prepare the passover supper; they found a large upper room where they made ready; iq the evening Jesus sat at the table with His disciples; He told them that one of them should betray Him; they were sor rowful and every one asked, "Lord, is it I?" Jesus said it would have been better for that man never to. have been born; He then told Judas that He was the one; Judas left; Jesus eats His last supper with the remaining eleven. 8. Topic: The Bufferings of Christ. Place: Gethsemane. Jesus and eleven disciples enter the garden: eicht are left near the entrance; Peter, James and John go with Him into the garden. Jesus agonizes in prayer; His sweat is like blood; He prays for strength; an angel is sent; three times He asks His disciples to watch with Him; three times He finds them sleeping. We should watch and pray. 9. Topic: The arrest of Christ. Place: Gethsemane. It was in the middle of the night; Judas and a band of Roman soldiers came to arrest Jesus; they havo torches and weapons. What a picture is Judas of a fallen human being! For vears he had listened to the teachings of his Divinf Master. He had seen the multitudes fed, sea calmed, and the dead raised. He could not help but know that Jesus was the Son of God: and yet', for a few paltry pieces of silver he enters the quiet retreat of the Saviour and covirs His face with kisses as a sign to the officers that ITo is the one they are seeking. What hypoc risy! To what depths can a fallen man descend! Jesus shows Himself to them; they fall backwards to the ground; Jesus asks that His disciples be permitted to go their way; Peter cuts off the servant's ear; Jesus tells Peter to put up his sword, and heals the ear; Jesus arrested, bound and taken away. 10. Topic: The accusations against Christ. Place: The palace of Caiaphaa. Jesus is sent from Annas to Caiaphas the high priest; Peter follows afar off and thrice denies the Saviour; the Sanhedrin is hastily summoned; false witnesses are sought and are found with difficulty; at last two testify that He said He could de stroy the temple and build it in three days; Jesus is silent: Caiaphas asks Him if He is the Christ; Jesus replies that He is; Caiaphas rent his clothes; Jesus is condemned to death. 11. Topic: Pilate seeking to release Jesus. Place: Pilate's judgment ball. Jesus is taken to Pilate, the governor, who investigates the charges and finds thein false; Jesus is sent to Herod, who finds ao fault with Christ. Pilate calls the people together and desires to release Christ; they demand that He be crucified; three times Pilate urges His release; they demand the release of Barabbas, a mur derer; Pilate yields; washes his hands. .L, loJ?ic: Closing scenes in Christ's earthly life. Place: Mount Calvary. Christ on the cross; mocked by the sol diers; vinegar offered; the superscription; the two thieves crucified with Christ; one railed on Jesus, the other confessed his sins and asked to be remembered in Christ s kingdom; the praver answered; darkness from 12 till 3 o'clock; Jesus cried with a loud voice and died; the centurion's testimony; Joseph begged the body of Jesus; wrapped It in linen and laid It in a new sepulchre.
