HILLSGROVE ■ Frank Brey, while trailing logs oft' the mountain back of Mr. Brey's last week, had the misfortune to have one of his feet caught between it running log and a stump, injuring the foot most terribly. It is not k itown at present whether or not the. foot can be saved. A. A. Ludy, whtle driving his team Saturday last below town, he was thrown from the wagon and re ceived some bad face and scalp wounds. There are at present four cases of typhoid fever in Hillsgrove, and a good chance for more. It has been only a few years since this place experienced an epidemic of typhoid and the residents were then compell ed to remove all pig pens and out .houses from where there was danger (,f polluting the drinking water, and premises kept in a good, clean condition. But at present the pig pens are all in the town with a row of barn yards and cess pools. No wonder there is typhoid. John Broinbeck, wife and child, and .Vlias Anna Dewar are the pres ent victims of typhoid. Hiilney Green killed a large wild cat back of his mother's residence last week. Sid is only a young hunter but would tackle a wild cat any. time. Supt. Ueslee of the tannery spent •Sunday with his family at Ralston* • Cliff. Rinebold has gone to Klon dike to work with his brother Ilank. Leslie Vroman of Jacksonville, visited his parents at this place last week. Leslie has a good position there. Charles Ilaas has moved up to town for the winter. jJohn Lucas has been elected pres . ident of the "hog association" for the coming year, he having raised the largest porkers in town this sea son . •Ed Holcomb gave a concert on the mountain Saturday evening, with his large Edison phonograph. \V. L. Hoffman drove to Muncy Valley last week. The Sunday School of the the Church of Christ held an oyster sup per in the basement of the church Saturday evening. Quite a good sum was raised. • ' Win, Rinker of Laquin is visiting his family at this place. There was a regular warming up Saturday night. Nearly everybody went skating. Ben Molneux of Kiess's camp was in town Saturday. Civil Engineer, Crit Reader, of Williamsport, and a crew of men are still at work up Mill creek run ning out the line for Sones' railroad. The Methodist and Baptist Sunday schools, have engaged J. W. John son of Lopez to give an entertain ment with his Imperial Victor Talk ing Machine. To be held at the M.
