The report submitted to theOraud Lodge of Pennsylvania Odd Fellows I in session at Kaston last week, show ed that there are now 120,453 Odd Fellows in Pennsylvania, a gain of 4,953 during the year. Fifteen sub ordinate lodges had been instituted and three surrendered their charters, the members merging with other lodges. The daughters of Uebekah have a net gain of 2K lodges and 2,124 members. The report of (Irand Secretary Jos eph 11. Maekey showed that the re ceipts of the grand Lodge last year were $57,371,5K, $30,131 42 being received from the per capita tax. The tabulated report of the relief j given by all tlie lodges showed that 15,999 members, 550 widowed fami lies had been helped. The amount ! paid for this relief was $418,783,80 for members, ami $3,423.<>2 for wid owed families. There was paid for the education of orphans $31,(>02.20; for burying the dead $104,531.93. The working expenses of the lodges were $378,024.15 making a grand to tal of $1,024,259.79 expended. During the past 30 years the Odd Fellows of the State distributed $10,398,948 79. Telephone Line will Expand. The Bradford County Telephone company is to extend its system the coming summer to a connection with the independent rural lines and the independent systems in Canton and New Albany boroughs. It seems almost incredible that iu these days of civilization and en lightenment, that a human being could be so utterly depraved as to commit such extreme cruelty upon a dumb animal as that with which Jesse Weaver of Bernice is charged. Last week the superintendent of the Northern Anthracite mines of Ber nice, sent a message to officer ] I<>l - len of Towanda to secure the arrest of Weaver, charging him with pull ing out the tongue of a muleof which he had chargeat the mines. He was placed under arrest, but for some rcasonmadc his escape before being lodgedin jail. (iovernor Pennypacker has lixed August 2u, as Pennsylvania Day at the St. Louis exposition. It will lie the anniversary of the battle fought by General Wayne against the Indians at Fallen timbers, with in the territory of the Louisiana purchase, and was participated iu by Pennsylvania troops. Tuesday, June 14, will be the 127 th anniversary of the stars and strips as Hag of the United States. Thomas Lozicr Dead. I Thomas Lo/.ler one of the best known lumbermen of the state, died | last week at Dubois, aged 77 years. In 1849 'he had charge of the tirst log drive floated to Willlamsport from Ben net's Branch Valley.
