MERRICK, formerly of Elmira, is one of the leading spirits of the enterprise. The Lehigh Valley directors are to have an inspecting excursion over their roads in this state next week. It is to occupy four days. They leave Philadelphia on the morning of Tuesday, October 18, and will return to that city on Friday, October 21. A number of Elmirans it is expected will accompany the party. — Free Press. WEDDING AT TOWANDA, PA.—MR. HEN RY MCKANNA and Miss NANCY DOI.AN were united in marriage at SS. Peter and Paul's church, Towanda, last Tuesday. Father KELLY officiated. CHARLES MCKANNA, brother of the groom, acted as best man and Miss ANNA MCKANNA performed the office of bridesmaid. The happy couple were at tired in rich apparel, suitable to the occasion, and elicited much favorable comment from the many friends of the contracting parties. The presents were numerous, and the newly made couple start on the journey of life with the best wishes of their many admiring friends. They went on a wedding tour to Philadelphia.— Elmira Adv.
