CORSER and son JOHNNIE have gone to Portage, N. Y., for a visit with friends there. Maj. E. W. IIALK and wife of "Woodside" and Mrs. J. J. GRIFFITHS have returned from Connecticut. Mrs. A. G. STURROCK and son GUY, and Mrs. STODARD, of Wellsboro, are visiting at H. N. WFILIAMS'. Capt. JAMES W. MERCUR.U. S. A., Super intendent of southern coast fortifications, was calling on friends in town yesterday. Dr. WILLIAMSON, au eminen physician and a gentleman of some literary fame, is spending a few days in this place as the guest of H. W. PATRICK. WILMOT TITUS who left this place ten years ago, and has ever since lived in Wiscon sin, is visiting friends here. A single dec ade has wrought many changes. Mr. DORN, of Scobarrie county New York, and his wife and mother have been visiting his cousin, Mrs. ROBT. MCKEK on 2nd street. They left for their home this morning. Mrs. COK, of Lockhaven, has rented Mrs. PKKT'B house on Third street, and with her granddaughter, Miss WOOHFORD, who ha-, been spending the summer here, will occupy it. "BILLY" WOODARD, <onluctor of tbc Wyaiusing and Elmira Local, has been having a siege of intermittent fever; but at last ac counts was improving. He is at Meboppen the home of his good wife, and under medi cal treatment of Dr. WELLS. MACE SCHRADER,a Barclay brakemau,fell from a coal tram in the Erie yards, at Waver ly last evening and a gondola wheel passed over his ankle, crushing it badly. He was brought to this place and the wound was dressed by Dr. PRATT. Mrs. JOSEPH SHARTS living near Sugar Run was, a few days ago, seriously, if not fatally injured, by being thrown upon the sharp edge of a watering trough by a cow she was milking. A stampede occurred with the cows. Mrs. S. arose when her cow suddenly jumped around, striking her with great force and throwing her side upon the trough. Mrs. S. is a youug lady and highly esteemed in her neighborhood. Sunday School at the usual hour at Christ Chursh to-morrow. The only physician who registered yester day was WILLIAM LAWSON FRISBIK, M. D. Orwell a graduate of Geneva Medical Col lege. i Pastor HALLOWELL being confined to his house with rheumatism, there will be no ser vices in the Baptist church to-morrow, except Sunday School as usual. The exquisite taste displayed by Mr. FITCH the Confectioner, in the arrangement of his goods, is only equalled by the flavor of his luscious grapes, pears aud peaches. The Mutual Musical Alliauee will hold its next session at New Laccyville, beginning Sept. 20th, and closing on the 23d, with a con cert in the eveuing. Prof. 11. E. At the examination of the President at 12 m to-dav, temperature was 99,8; pulse, 116; respiration, 21. At the evening dressing at 5:30, the temperature was 98. 6; pulse, 104; respiration, 22. A slight febrile rise occurred at 11 a. in., and had entirely subsided at 2p. in. The condit ion of the wound remains unchanged. The cough has not been so frequent or persistent, but the sputa still remains purulent. Nourishment and stimulauts have been given in increased quantities without discomfort. Altogether his gen eral condition cannot be said to be im proved. Any industrious, practical farmer, with a small capital, can hear of an opportunity to buy a farm on terms which will enable him to pay for it from his crops, by calling at this office. (L A.
