He is one of the most popular and conspicuous business men in the city of Topeka, Kansas. . Miss IDA MORGAN, of this place, closed her first term of school last week. .She taught in the Fisher district, Towanda twp., and gave entire satisfaction. We have 110 doubt she will become one of our most suc cessful teachers. JAMES ELDRIDGK and wife, of ( Mvego, cel ebrated their golden wedding 011 the 4th inst. The lady is a sister of 11. W. PATRICK and Mr. ELDRIDGE is a nephew of our esteemed townsman, in. W. SMITII, Esq. They are a well-preserved, intelligent, jovial couple, and bid fair to live many years yet. The announcement this week or C. T. HULL as a candidate for county trersurer, has crea ted (piitc a stir among many Republican poli ticians. The fact that the announcement was made immediately after a well-known '•boss" manipulator from the western part of the county had been in Athens "looking at horses," is considered very suggestive. G. W, KIMBEULY, attorney-at-law who j recently left this place to seek a home in the ! West, very wisely concluded not to "leave I the girl behind him" but turned benedict and took his wife with him. He lias located in the once famous city of Duluth, Minn. lie is thoroughly versed in law and will undoubt edly make his mark as a member of the legal profession of Minnesoat. If you do not go to Watkins next Tuesday you may neyer have another opportunity, and then you will never cease to regret that you remained at home. The Lcßaysville and Towanda rifle clubs will have a shooting match 011 the range of the latter, in East Towanda, commencing at one o'clock this afternoon. The excursion to Watkins Glen 011 Tuesday will be under supervision of experienced rail road men, and 110 pains will he spared to render the trip pleasant and profitable. It seems now reasonably certain that the TOWANDA, PA., SATURDAY, AUGUST 13, ISSI. ' excursion to Watkins Glen 011 Tuesday next will be blest with fair weather. The price is so low and the attractions arc so numerous, that manv of our people have already decided to go. The pariy will be taken by special train and the cars will stop at both the East Towanda and upper stations, for passengers. By the notices in the papers and reports j elsewhere, it would seem that the excursion on the ititli of this month to Watkins Glen is the only one to be run to that place.
