A farmer living in Markluim twp., Que beck, has discovered a pit on his farm containing five liun.li el skuls, and fhe times as many legs, arms and bones. The remains arc probably those of Indi ans buried two hundred years ago. It is claimed by members of the legis lature that Attorney General Palmer is anxious to have them pass a bill giving themselves extra pay, which they are a little shy about doing, having in mind no doubt the hue and cry raised about Con gressional salary grabbers. Judge Burgoyue of Cincinnati who dieci last Wednesday at the age of eighty years, was famous as a leader in the Whig par ty. lie was the first to pronounce from the bench the unconstitutionality of the fugitive slave law. He secured the ap pointment of President Harrison as clerk of his court. Bishop Doane states that the Episco pal church will pay uo attention to the revised Testament until the matter comes before the General Convention two years hence. He considers it no improvement on King James' traslatiou and the church is not committed to an indorsement of the revision. Gen. Cameron has presented to the Lu theran Church, of May town, Pa., the old Cameron homestead to be used as a par sonage under the condition that a por trait of the late Eliza Camerou shall re main in the parlor of the parsonage—the owner devisihg that the parsonage shall constitute a memorial of his wile. Rev. William A. West, a Presbyterian clergyman of llarrisburg, was prosecuted for kuowiugly and willingly performing the marriage ceremony between a young man and woman under age. The action was commenced under an old statute, which fixes the penalty for such offense at fifty pounds, Pennsylvania currency, which is equal to $133. The jury disa greed and was discharged. An important decision lias recently been made by the Supreme Court in a case taken up from Schuylkill county, Commonwealth against McHale. The decision is to the effect that the statute oflimitatious of 1839 does not apply to election frauds. This will make a good many men in the larger cities of Pennsyl vania feel much less safe than they did when they imagined the statute screened them from punishment. The Secretary of the Omaha Board of Trade, estimates that the grain crop of Nebraska for this year if the present indi cations are realized, at one hundred and five million bushels, an increase of 30 per cent over last year's crop. The wheat crop is estimated at 16,000,000 bushels, a gain of 50 per cent. The farm lauds are beiug rapidly taken up by settlers and capitalists.
