Morley, who lives just below this place on tiie west side, were destroyed by lire yester day afternoon. The fire was communicated to the dry grass by a passing engine, and in a few minutes spread to the buildings, which consisted of a tine house, a barn and wagon barn. The furniture was taken out of the house, which was unoccupied at the time, but seventy bushels of wheat and five tones of bay were burned. Thus in an hour the home of a veteran of over ninety-two years is laid waste, but lie has lived around with his child ren for some time, only keeping the old f omostend furnished ready for use. Athens, l'a., A pi. 18, 'Bl. WILL. Ilero is a receipt for home-made cream candy: One coffee cup of white sugar, one or two tablcspoonfuls of water, enough to make it dissolve nicely a> it heats. Boil with out stirring, in a bright tin pan, until it will crisp in water like molasses candy. Just before it is done put in a tablcspoonful of extract of vanilla and a quarter of a table spoonful of cream of tartar. When sufficient ly done pour into a buttered pan and when cool enough to handle work it as you would molasses candy, until it is perfectly white; and then stretch, and lay on a marble slab, or if you have to use the moulding board, put buttered papers over it, and. with a chopping knife, cut it into moulhfuls and set away until it creams, which it will do as it dries out. If it grains before it is done or beforo you have a chance to pull it, put it back into the pan and pour water on it, and boil it over again.
