Tlie Oalry. As an article of profit for ihe farmer, the diry u equalled by few, excelled by none. It is far ia aJvinco of grain-raising; as it is much more cor lain and not exhaustive of the oil. Still it requires strict attention and close management. The surest way for a new be ginner to obtain a good&tockof cows, is to go to a large dairyman, and by prying a good rouud price. Lave the privilege of selection the repaired number. Ia this way he will obtain the best stock, whereas if he buys them one at a place he will be very apt to get a poor animal, as it is human nature to sell the poor est. If he has not rueaas to adopt this me thod, the next best way is to engage of an honorable man the required number of heiffer calves. To have a good pasture is essential. A mixture of timothy and clover is the best grass. The stock should have plenty of clear, running water, not swamp settlings. A few 6 hade trees in the lot will conduce very much to coiii fort in hot days. Have a trough under cover filled with salt, an ! give your cows free access to it; it improves the butter aud cheese much more than a casual observer would im agine. Many farmers are in the habit of scattering salt on the ground about once a week, half of which is wasted, and the rest eaten with dirt and roots. As to the details of cheese-making, it would be useless to givo them. It requires practical illustrations and practice. It is considered more profitable than butter-ruakiog, especially in warm weath er. When butter is made, an ice house well filled is almost indispensable. A small piece should be placed in each vessel of milk, and a larger quantity in the cream when churning. The best churn that I have used is the com mon barrel churn; it is simply a barrel of oak with three of the staves projecting in the in side about four inches. It is placed on fric tion rollers requiring very little labor to turn it. There is no waste of creau, and the but ter can be washed without removing it. I generally wash the butter iu three waters, Fait, and set it away until the next day, thee woik it again and pack in tubs. Cream rises the best when the milk is set above ground. A cool, dry room, on the north i-ids of a build ing, with shade trees, if possible, is much su perior to a damp cellar. There tbould be plenty of air, and the utensils should be kept clean and sweet. Dollar Newspaper. Seeding Corn Land to Grast. One of the real progressive farmers of Ill inois "one who does not fear such truths as Solon Robinson told the farmers iu his ad dress at Hartford" writes of his success with apiece of surface-drained swamp land, which was too wet to plow in the spring, in seeding It with grass among the co rn ia the f 11. He a) a. : .asi year, while thinking the matter over, and wonderiag whether it would not do to sow grass seed among the corn, an article appeared in the Daily Tribune recommend ing it. This decided the matter, and the mtn were set to work about the middle of August, or a little before, with garden racs to smooth the rough places, and prepare the ground for seed. We then wed liberally with timothy. Len the proper time came we cut the corn up at the surface, as usual. T . "o"'"-w Above we present you with a likei.ess of DR. MORSE the inventor of AIORSE'S INDIAN ROOT PILLS. This philanthropist has speut the greater part of his life in traveling, having visited Europe, Asia, and Africa, as well as North. America has spent three years amcug the Indians of our Western country it was in this way that the Indian Root Pills were first discovered. Dr. Morse was the first man to es tablish the fact that all diseases arise from IM PURITY OF THE BLOOD that our strength, health and life depended upon this vital fluid. When the various passages become clogged, and do not act in perfect harmony with the dif ferent functions of the body, the b!obd loses its aciion, becomes thick, corrupted, and diseased ; thus causing all pains, sickness and distress of every name; our streLgth is exhausted, our health we are deprived of, and if uature is not assisted in throwing oft the stagnant humors, the blood will become choked and cease to act, and thus our light of life will forever be blown out. How itupoi taut then that we should keep the various passages of the body free aud open. And how pleasant to us that we have it in our power to put a medicine in your reach, namely, Morse's Indian Root Pills, ruanufac' ured from plants and roots which grow arouud the mountainous clilTs m Nature's Garden, fur the health and recovery of diseased man. One of the roots from which lbe?e Pills are made is a Sudorific, which opens the pores of the skin, aud assists Nature in throwing out the finer part3 of the corruption wiium. ine second is a plant which is an Ex pectorant, that opens and unclogs the passage to the lungs, and thus, in a soothing manuer, per forms its duty in throwing off phlegm, and other humors from the lungs by copious spitting. The third is a Diuretic, which gives double ease and strength to the kidneys; thus encouraged, they draw large amounts of impurity from the blood, which is then thrown out bountifully by the uri nary or water passage, and which could" not have been discharged in any other way. The fourih i is a Cathartic, and accompanies the other Prop- I erlies of the Pills while engaged in purifying the oiooti ; tne coarser parades ot impurity which cannot pass by the other outlets, are thus taken up and couvyed off iu great quantities by the 1 u j W . iili From the above, it w shown tb.at.Dr. Morse Indian Root Pills not oily enter the stomach, but become united with the blood, for they find way to every part, and completely rout out and cleans-e the system from ad iinpuiitv, and the life of the bouy, which is the blood, becomes Per fectly healthy; consequently all sickness aud pain is driven from the system, for they cannot remain wnen me oooy becomes so pure and clear. The reason whvneoole are so distressed tvlun ! sick, and why so many die, is be-.-ause they do i . I - 1 Ml . . . . uut gui a meuicmc wutcn win pass to the alli-.c- ted parts, and wmch will open tuj natural pas sage fr the diseaso to be cast out; heuce. a large quantity of food aud other matter is lodg ed, and the stomach aud intoliues are ItteraMy ovei 'lowing with the co-rupted mass ; thus un dergoing a disagreeable feuneolaliou, coftstau'ly mi.vng with the biood, which throws the cor rupted matter through every vein and artery, until life rs taken from the bly by disease. Dr. Morse's PILLS have added io themselves victor upon ictory, by restoriug mil-ions of the sick to blooming health aud Lapjius. Ye.i. thousands who have been racked or tormented with sick ness, pain and anguish, and whose feeble frames have been scorched by the burning ele.nents if raging fever, and who have been brought, as it were, within a step of the sdent grave, now stand ready to testify that they would have been numbered with the dead, had it not been for this great and wonderful medicine, Morse's In dian Root Pills. After one or two doses had been takeu, they were astonished, aud absolutely surprised, in witne.-sing their charming effects. Not only do they give imtndiate case and strength, and take away all sickne.-s, pain and anguish, but they at once go to work at the foundation of the disease, which is the blood. Therefore, it will be shown, especially by those who use these Pills, that they will cleanse and purify, that disease that deadly enemy will take its flight, and the fluh of youth and beaut v will again return, and the prospect ol a long and 'nappy life will cherish and brighten your days.
