Camzbojc voted as the farmers be lieve on the coin question, and is Btronger to-day in Pennsylvania, than ever before. Thi Pennsylvania Legislature PAisei a resolution requesting Sen ator Cameron and Quay to vote for the Federal Election bill now pend ing in Congress. Tki&e is a compuluery education school bill on its passage in the Leg islature. Write to your Member and Senator to vote against such an un-American law. If Congress would paps a bill fcr the free coinage of silver, and if it would become a law by the Presi dent signing it, speculation in silver would be at an end Tue Kansas Legislature ben da t man named Pfefft-r to succeed In galls in the United States Senate. I'effer is an alliance man, about CO years old and a Fennsylvanlan by birth. Report has it that Snators Woods of Mifflin count.v. and Williamson of Huntingdon called on President Har risoii the other day t pay their re nnets. The President inquired." "Am I to understand that Pennsyl vania is still a Republican state." The modest gentlemen were stunned into Kilenoe br the Presidential in quiry, aod before their speech the them "Good Day." they recovered President bade Silence. William Wixdom, Secretary of the United States Treasurer, after having made a speech, at a banquet priven, by the Board of Trade and TiaaHportation, of New York City took his seat and immediately died, on tho night of January 29 at 10.05 o'clock, Consternation seized upon all present, id waa a uoiii? 01 JJ" turned into mourning. The general trend of his speech was aU in lavor of two objects, first, that of the building up of American commerce, bv government subsidy for American ships, second, the single coin, or gold standard of value. lie was bora in Ohio in 1827. FkoM the best authorities it ap pears that the National debts of the western nations is about twenty- three thousand million dollars this is not counting the si ate, county, city, town and township debts or in dividual debts To meet that the National indebtedness in gold, there is about three thousand million dol lars in gold among the western na tions. What a feast it is to be invit ed to pay 23 thousand million dollars, with three tnonsand million dollars. Such is the financial grip that the gold men would iwposo on tho coun try. Instead of denouncing Senr. lpr Cameron for voting for the free coinage of silver every debtor and every man who favors a better time financially should thank him for that votu. If you want harder times de nounce Cameron for voting for free doinage of filver. Farmers' Alliance Platform. A battle to the death took place in Mercer county to-day between a valuable saddle stallion and a jackass belong ing to William Thomas, a stock rais er. A few days ago a mad dog bit Thomas' little boy and the horse. Yesterday the horse went mad, and kicking down the door to the jack's stable, began biting him. The jack retaliated, and for fifteen minutes they fought, using their teeth, heels and fore feet. Finally the jack tor the stallion's left ear leosa with his teeth, and tho horse then bit a piece from the jack's neck. This seemed to make the jack more ferocious than ever, and grab bing the lower port of the horse's neck in his teeth, tore out his wind pipe, but the high-mettlod stailiou did not give Bp, and before falling he kieked the jack oa the left hind. lag, DreajBDg u van daiow me bock. The hone then fell dead. The jack uttered a long, lend bray and rushed into his stable. He was covered with blood and wounded unto death, so that his owner killed him to put him out of misery. The boy was taken to a madstone. The stone stuck three times, and he shows no sigra of rabies, it is be lieved he will recover. ft Colored People. This from the Philadelphia Re cord, January 27, 1891: Fred Ford, a colored man of the typical South eon type, residing at No 628 North Second Street, baa recently become convinced that Judiasm offers to him the only road to salvation, and a few days ago in pursuance of his convic tions, he approached Rabbi Rot. L Moisiohn, of the Ans'ie Emeth Syn- aj Jue, the most primitive nsutmion 0 ' its kind in this city. Ford told the Israelite how for three longjyears he had te.ted their religion, having gone through all the rites and cere monies with them, and that he be lieved his choice was unwavering. Could he 1x3 received in membership with them? The Rabbi looked at him. TLe look decided the question. Ford was not of the right color, and was told he could not be received. A proselyte wus lost, but, as the rabbi afterward explained: "We are oppos- to any negro becomiag one of us, and intend that the purity ol tne uiooa or tho Jews shall b9 maintained. Why mix pure blood?
