Oct. 18, 1853. a?A large Map of the Lines, and Pro files of the Grades from the preliminary surveys of the Lewisburg, Centre & Spruce Creek Railroad, has been completed by ( ustav Waagncr, and I leery S. fierti.ond, attached to Mr. Slieafer's corps of engin eers, and is now on exhibition at the office of the Lcaitburg Savings Institution. The lines arc on a scale of 4,000 feet to the inch, and the rrrades on a vertical scale of 500 feet to the inch. of great interest to all friends of the pro jected road, and they would do well to call and examine it for themselves. This, and all other entorpri.-es of similar magnitude, are necessarily slow in getting fairly under way, and great energy and pa tience are necessary to their achievement. Rut the prospects of the ultimate and en tire success of this importaut roid ar; much more flattering than a large majority of the projected roads now under discus sion in various parts of the Union. The connections which this road will make are eecoud to none in value and import iuce, and coupled with the heavy and profitable local trade which it will accommodate, present powerful inducements for the ac tive co-operation of foreign and local influ ences and interests iu its behalf. And wc are happy to state that such assurances have been given by New York capitalists, and other controlling influences nearer the scene of operations, as will, when added to the efforts of the enterprising and wealthy population on the line of the road, in due time place this enterprise on solid vantage ground. The work on the road between Catta wissa and l'ottsgrove, four miles cast of Lewisburg with which the Spruce Creek road will connect, aud thus complete a di- K rc-t railroad from New York to l'ittsburg is rapidly progressing, and the grading of many of the sections is already comple ted. Jps.The work on the Susquehanna Kail road is steadily advancing on this side of the river, and full as great progress has been made as could have been expected under the prevalent scarcity of laborers. Sjnie of the lighter sections are nearly completed. The Directors of the Compa ny at their meeting last week in Harris burg, evinced a settled determination to push their road through without regard to the movements of rival enterprises. Hon.
