Shriner, were appointed a Committee to draft a Constitution. On motion, a committee was appointed to ascertain the condition of the engine. On motion, a Committee was appointed to confer with the Town Council in refer ence to the engine. Adjourned to Monday evening next. Monday. March 24. The nndersiimed citizens of Lewisbunr, Leing convinced of the utility of Fire Com panies, hereby agree to cuter into an asso ciation for the protection oi property against -fire, and adopt and establish the following Constitution: Asvr. 1. Ihis company snail be dis tinguished by the name of the " Lewisburg Valiant ire Company. II. The members of this Company shall hold an election for officers, annually, on the third Monday in March. 111. The omecrs snail consist ot 1 cap tain, 1 secretary, 1 chief engineer, 1 assis tant, 4 line-men, Z axc-men, 4 nock-men 4 ladder-men, and 1 treasurer. IV. The captain chall preside at all stated mccting!, whose duty it shall be tocall the meetings to order, put to vote all motions made and seconded,aal give thccasting vote when there is a tic. V. The Secretary shall call the roll im mediately after the meeting is called to rder,note the absentee, and read thu pro ceedings of the lat meeting. VI. The Treasurer thall collect all fines imposed by the Company, keep a true ac count of all monies collected and paid out, and report to the Company every three months. VII. It shall further be the duty of the Secivtary to make out a correct rejtort of all 6 res, naming the services rendered, with the names of tlinsc who vignalized themselves in endeavoring to stop the pro progresii of the flames, and also the names of all such ho disobeyed orders, or oth erwise incurred fines ; and rejort the same to the Company at their next meeting. VIII. It shall further be the duty of the Captain to call out the Company once a month, for the purpose of practicing with the engine. IX. It shall further be the duty of the Treasurer to give a bond with good security to the amount of $500, for the true per formance of duty. X. The fines imposed by the Company rhall be as follows : Captain or Secretary, for non-attendance, 25 cts., other officers for non-attendance, 15 cts. ; private mem bers for non-attendance, unless detained by sickness or unavoidable cause of absence, 12 cts.; for not serving when elected to office, or for not serving when appointed on a committee, 25 cts.; for disobcyiug or ders in case of a fire, or leaving the post assigned without permission of the Capt ain, 50 cts.; for intoxication, or quarrel ing between any of the members, at a sta ted meeting, or in case of fire, 61 second offence, expulsion. The Committee to examine the engine, reported. The Committee to wait on the Town Council not reporting, was continued. On motion the following officers were elected : Captain. Jacob Xeyhart. G. was a man of warm impulses, and great energy of character for many years, an active and influential politician and had for a long time filled a large space in the business affairs of this community.
