PAGE SIX Absentee As the •day of state elections approaches, a special situation arises for University students eli gible to vote. By being in State College, Most students are away from their vot ing districts and, with election day falling during the academic week, many students will find it difficult to return home to vote. To solve this problem, eligible students may apply foi an absen tee ballot which will enable them to vote without leaving Centre County. ACCORDING TO the 1962 Pennsylvania Election Guide, any qualified elector of Pennsylvania, who is properly registered and en rolled and who on the day of elec tion is unavoidably absent from the county of his voting residence by reason of his duties, business or occupation, is entitled to vote by absentee ballot. In Allegheny 'County, they are in the County Office Building in Pittsburgh. The chief clerk will mail the application form to the elector. The completed form must be re turned to the chief clerk between Sunday and Oct. 30. IF TIM application is properly completed, the "chief clerk will mail an official absentee ballot with instructions to the student. The ballot must be returned on GYPSY KNOWS ...
