TUESDAY. NOVEMBER 23. 1961 Controversial Play Knocks Cowards From Unbeaten Ranks It's Syracuse and Notre Dame all over. Saturday's big battle between the Collegian Cowards and the Pitt News Staff is now history, but the circumstances surrounding the game will be hashed around foot ball circles for weeks to . come. Midway through the first quar ter, the Cowards struck for the first score of the game. Chugging down the field, the Cowards moved 53 yards in 10 plays, with the score coming on a 3-yard pass from "Paw" Black to Jim "Gar bage Mouth" Bukata. Black's pass attempt for the extra point was off. Jim O'Brien quickly brought the Pitt News into the, game by tossing a 73-yard pass to Mike Ditka to tie the score. Ditka, on loan from the Chicago Bears, performed admirably, although the Cowards did defense him well. Early in the third quarter, the Cowards moved ahead on a spectacular 43-yard pass play. Black rolled to his left, avoided the grasps of three Pitt line men and heaved a bullet pass downfield. John "The Bomb" Beauge arrived on the scene, made an unbelievable one handed catch, and rambled the Wreck Tech TIM Educational Film Series Presents "Henna - The Magnificent" Time: I:00-2:00 & 6:00.7:00 Place: Hub Assembly Hall Another Free Public Service by TIM offers opportunities for growth, advancement and improved technical proficiency kr: wassiLim mi.moirrrtoN7cs EN'a-INMMIELS Challenging design opportunities in Microwave Components and Systems, Radar Circuits, Transistor Circuits, Test Equipment and Reliability Analysis. New engineers with initiative who can meet Western Electric's high standards are offered many exciting career opportunities with our company in data processing development work as it relates to. communications. For example, Western's engineers—working closely with Bell Telephone Laboratories—have solved development and manufacturing prob lems connected with the Bell System's new DATA-PHONE Data set (made by Western Electric). DATA-PHONE service lets business machines, such as computers, "'speak" to each other in a language of numbers and symbols over existing telephone communication networks. This represents a tremendous boon to business; and consequently, it is estimatcd that some day there may be more machine talk than people talk using telephone lines. Of course, data communications is only one of many rewarding career areas that await you at Western Electric.
