FRIDAY, OCTOBER 27. 1961 Oldest U.S. To Perform The American Ballet Theatre, which will perform at 8 p.m. Sunday in Recreation Hall, is America's oldest native ballet company. Both student and genera able at the Hetzel Union des 'The Cave Dwellers' To Open Tonight The Penn State Players will open their 1961-62 season tonight at 8 p.m. in Center Stage when they present "The Cave Dwellers" by William Saroyan. The play will run through Dec. 2 with performances evety Friday and Saturday evening. "The Cave Dwellers" is a story about a group of people living in an abandoned theater on New York's east side. The characters include a has been actress, an ex prize fighter, and a young girl. The play first opened on Broad way in October 1957. Tickets are now being sold at' the Hetzel Union desk. Season tickets, good for all five Players' productions scheduled for this year, are also being sold through November 11. The cast for "The Cave Dwell-1 ers" includes Sondra Schrenker.; Ed Anderson, Susan Ravitz, Fred Gordon, Howard Pearlstein, Barry Shinberg, Patricia McGee, David Griffiths, Art Sokolove and Mi chael Ewald. Yugoslavia. and Bul garia. In 1954, the Ballet Theatre founded a workshop. The work shop prepares and presents works of young choreographers and new composers in off-Broadway thea tres. Leonard Bernstein, Jerome Robbins and Agnes de Mille are some of the more famous "grad uates" of the workshop. The American Ballet Theatre Orchestra, which will be conduct ed by Kenneth Schermerhorn and Walter Hagen for its campus ap pearance, has recorded 17 of its musical scores. Among these are "Swan Lake," "Sleeping . Beauty," "Fancy Free" and "Les Patineurs."
