OCTOBER 10. 1961 Senate Committee Disciplines 2 Men One student was placed on suspended suspension and another withdrew from the University as a result of action taken by the Senate Sub-committee on Discipline last week. A junior in arts and letters who caused a disturbance at the football game with Navy was placed on suspended sus- pension, Daniel R. Leasure, assist ant to the dean of men, said. A student on suspended suspen sion may be suspended from the University immediately by the dean of men if any further mis conduct occurs. The student, a minor, was in toxicated, Leasure said. The dis turbance started, Leasure ex plained, when the student purchased a pennant from a vendor at the game and then took three others. When the student was caught by a campus patrolman he was very uncooperative and used abu sive language, Leasure said. The. second student, a sopho more in business administration, was caught stealing while staying at a fraternity, Leasure said. The student was a transfer student and living in the fraternity under the 3-week fraternity tryout program, he explained. Fraternity members reported that he stole $l2 in cash, two shirts, plus a number of small items, such as a pair of socks and a shoehorn, Leasure said. E. Diem, vice president for business administration, said in creased traffic with its attendant safety factors dictated the move. OPERATED referred to the University psy chiatrist because he "demon strated unusual behavior," Lea sure said. The psychiatrist reported that the student did not have a charac ter diSorder but did demonstrate a high degree of immaturity, Leasure reported. .Because of this report, Leasure said, the sub-committee decided to give the student an opportunity to withdraw from the University without any formal disciplinary action being taken against him. The student accepted the sub committee's recommendations and withdrew from the University, he said. Graduate Lecture Series Dr. Harry F.
