PAGE SIX Biesecker Blanks Bucknell on 2 Hits By JOHN MORRIS Lanky righthander Marlin Biesecker took advantage of unusual fielding and hitting support to beat Bucknell 7-0 in the first game of a scheduled Beaver Field doubleheader yes terday. Biesecker surrendered only two hits to cop his first win of the season. The second game was rained out after two and one half innings with the Lions lead ing 4-2 The Lion defense collapsed behind Biesecker in his other two appearances this year. State committed eiqht errors when he lost to Villanova, 9-6, and gave Syracuse the winning run without a hit in the Orange's 3-2 victory last Saturday. Yesterday was a completely different .story. The Nittanies p.aved errorless ball and came up w.'.h some timely hitting to boost their record back to the .500 level at 5-5 Bucknell (1-7) was playing without the services of six of its team members, including regular shortstop Ken Twiford. The Bi so.is who missed the trip were de tained by classes. Big A 1 Gursky led the Nit iany attack with two doubles and two RBI in two official trips. The Lion leftfielder drove in the game’s first two runs in the second inning to give Biesecker a.i the margin he needed. Slate went on to score three more times in the second and sin gl runs in the third and fifth to break a four game losing streak. Catcher Don Jonas led off the second with a walk and short stop John Phillips reached base on an error before Gursky’s first double. Gursky later scored on Bie sccker’s single. Biesecker and first sackev Barry Rodenhaver also scored in the inning as the Lions Soviets Attack Proposal To Limit Olympic Sports LONDON (,P) Soviet Russia attacked plans to cut down the number of competitors in the Olympic Games and claimed no convincing arguments had been put forward for the changes.
