PAGE SIX Senate Suspends Two For Forgery, Thefts The Senate Sub-Committee on Discipline, following through on its get-tough policy on . student thefts, suspended two men studerits from the University Wednesday afternoon: A freshman in liberal arts was suspended until the winter term of 1962 for forging five checks and .then cashing them in establishments in State College, Leroy S. Austin, associate dean of men, said yesterday. The student also had been involved in a theft in the residence hall, Austin con tinued. A senior in agriculture who was caught shoplifting from a State College store was suspended for the spring semester, Austin said. The student will he permitted to finish this semester, Austin added. Tn other disciplinary action, the dean of men along with the stu dent trihunals disciplined eight 111V11. A sophomore in liberal arts was placed on probation - with the of fice of the dean of men, Austin said, after he twice failed to com ply wilh discipline given to him by his residence hall counselor. Office probation does not limit the activities of the student but is a decision that is taken into consideration if the student gets into trouble again. A fresaman in liberal arts who was caught drinking in the resi dence hall was placed on disci plinary probation, Austin said. Under disciplinary probation, a student may not be an officer of an organization or participate in varsity athletics. Three students who were drink ing on the golf course and then took the bottles back to the resi dence hall each ware given pro bation with the office of the dean of men until June, 1961. Three other students involved in gambling in the residence halls were also given probation. One student with eight prior minor violations was placed on disci plinary probation, Austin said. The two other students ware put on office probation until the fall term.of 1961.
