Final Election Vote Tallied WASHINGTON (11 3 ) In the closest presidential race in 76 years, Democrat John F. Kenne dy scored a popular vote plurality of only 111,957 over Republican Richard M. Nixon in final official tabulations Thursday. Little Rhode Island came through with its official vote to complete the 50-state total. The total vote for president on Nov. 8 was 68,833,254. This was 6,804.195. over the previous record in 1956. While his popular vote margin was the smallest since Democrat Grover Cleveland won by only 29,209 over Republican James G. Blaine in 1884, Sen.
