PENNSYLVANIA Birch to Give Speech About Earth's Interior Dr. Francis Birch, professor of geology at Harvard University, will discuss “The Deep Interior of the Earth: Mantle and Core” in a public lecture scheduled for 8 p.m. Monday in the Mineral Science auditorium. I He is serving during December as distinguished visiting professor !of geophysics at the University. A series of talks have been ar ranged for Birch and he will ad dress the Mineral Industries Col loquim at 4:15 p.m. Friday. He will also present a series of four seminars on research problems in the earth sciences. Birch received his bachelor of 'science, master of arts and doctor of philosophy degrees from Har vard University, where he has been a member of the faculty since 1931. Recipient of the Arthur L.
