McComb, University librarian, announced yesterday. Such a system has been under consideration as a measure to cut down on the number of missing books. Librarians have been asked to check more closely on departing students to see if they have for gotten to return any books, but there will be no guards posted at any of the doors. The library’s present budget prevents such a system, and a good location for such guards is also a problem. While this step might be taken next year, it will not be made without posting proper warning signs. McComb emphasized that few students intentionally take books. Most losses occurr from absent minded students who are too busy to charge them out, he said.
