SATURDAY, MAY 9, 1953 (arlrerti9ement) 33 Merchants Give Gifts For 'Miss Penn State' Xhirty-three State College merchants and 11 national companies have offered - a dazzling array of 'gifts to be presented to Miss Penn State after her coronation by Mamie Eisenhower in Recreation Hall Monday night. The queen will be chosen froth five finalists: Mary Braun, sponsored by Sigma Nu; Sheila_Rosenson, sponsdred by Sigma Delta Tau and Theta Chi; Kay Lloyd, sponsored by Alpha" Gamma Del ta; Madeleine Sharp, sponsored by Kappa Alpha Theta; and Sara Ann .Updegraff, sponsored by chi Omega. • In addition to the vast array of gifts, Miss Penn State and the finalists will compete in the Len theric Cosmetics Company na tional Lilac Queen contest. The, winner of this contest will receive two tickets for a 10-day trip to, Cuba.' Pictures of the finalists, the robe, and the crown she, will wear are on display in a win dow of the Charles Shop. The Charles Shop will supply the loving cup 'for the queen. Miss Penn State will receive several lavish"- gifts of jewelry. From the Mur Jewelry Company, she'll get a compact; from Crab trees, a rhinestone necklace; from the Blair Shop, a pearl choker; from Clearfields, a glove holder; and from the Mary Leitzinger Shop, a bracelet. And if she has a sweet tooth, Miss Penn State should be happy with candy she'll get from the Corner Room, Graham and Son, the Candy Cane, and the Goss Candy Store. To -frame any pictures she'll want to keep to remember this great event, she'll get an oak frame with her picture from the Penn State Photo Shop and a leather picture frame from Balfour's.
