PAGE EIGHT Rec Hall Plan Turned Down By Ed Council The Education Student Council last night unanimously defeated the seating plan whereby students would exchange athletic book tickets for regular admission tick ets for Recreation Hall sporting events. The unexchanged tickets would then go on sale to the gen eral public. The council did express ap proval, however, of some plan to allow faculty and townspeople to attend events in Rec Hall. The Interstudent Council Board fee proposal that calls for each student in each school to be as sessed a 25-cent fee at registration was passed by the council. The plan is such that schools wanting more than 25 cents such as The ag riculture and home ec schools would collect the difference with in their own schools. Harry Schank was elected presi dent of the council, Suzanne West cott was elected vice president, and Mary Glading was elected secretary-treasurer. 5 Students Withdraw Five students have withdrawn from the College according to the last Faculty Bulletin. Gives $3OOO To UJA Drive Four students presented a $3OOO check to the United Jewish Ap peal Fund, on behalf of the local Hillel Foundation, at a UJA din ner,- Sunday, at the William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh. Attending the dinner were Ne dra LeVine, Sare Bassel, David Hyman, and Leonard 'Goodman, students from the College. The do nation was collected from stu dents an d townspeople of the county. The tri-state banquet was held to collect money donated to the fund. The local delegation pre sented the check to George Jes sel, television and movie comedi an, who was master of ceremonies for the occasion. • Warfield Following his concert debut in 1950 at Town Hall in New York he toured. Australia under the auspices of the Australian Broad casting Commission. His popu larity grew in this country fol lowing his appearance as Joe singing "Ole Man River" in the motion picture "Show Boat" and as Porgy in the Broadway re vival of "Porgy and Bess." Last summer he toured Europe with the "Porgy and Bess" company. This summer he will return to Hollywood where he will be cast as Jim in the musical version of Mark Twain 's "Huckleberry Finn." Ronald Ferguson, chairman of the Chem-Phys Open House _com mittee, announced the time of the three lecture demonstrations to highlight the Open House May 2. There will be a physics demon stration at 2:30 p.m. in 117 Os mond, a cryogenics (low tempera ture research) demonstration at 4:30 p.m. outside of Pond Labora tory, and a radio chemistry dem onstration at 7 p.m. in 119 Osmond.
