Itkin is one of the directors of the Goodman Memor ial Theatre in Chicago. Dean Retires (Continued from page one) science degree and later the de gree of civil engineer. He also earned a doctor of engineering degree at the Case School of Ap plied Science and a doctor of laws degree at the University of Vermont. Before coming to the College, Dean Hammond served on the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania, Lehigh Univer- sity, and Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. Outside of his work in the edu cation field, Dean Hammond was a practicing engineer with the American Bridge Co., the Miami Conservancy District, the Board of Water Supply of New York City, and the firm of consulting engineers of Lederle and Probost. He specialized in sanitary and' structural engineering. During World War 11, Dean Hammond served as a member of the National Advisory Committee of Engineering Defense Training and was in charge of the inspec tion of the Army specialized training program in th e third service command. During recent years Dean Hammond has turned his atten tion to surveying and analyzing the methods and policies of high er engineering education carried on by many colleges and univer sities. He was chairman of the committee which submitted the two most fundamental reports on engineering education.
