PAGE SIX Jeffreymen Oppose Bucknell In Opener The twenty-fifth Bill Jeffrey coached soccer team will take the field tomorrow in the opener of the 1950 season at Lewisburg, Pa., the home of Bucknell university. The Lions will be top-heavy favorites as they attempt to make Bisons No. 15 in their string of consecutive victories. The undefeated streak began early in the 1948 season and will continue, Jeffrey hopes, for a long, long time. Last year, State swept through an eight game season and tied the Pacific Coast champion, San Francisco, for national honors in the Soccer Bowl in St. Louis on Jan. 1. This year the schedule has been enlarged to ten contests. The chances of adding these ten games to the credit side of the ledger seem better than fair since eight former lettermen re turn to bolster the Nittany Valley powerhouse. Five of these men will form the forward line in to morrow's opener, which would serve to indicate that the offense will be very strong this year. Captain Harry Little will lead this unit from his inside left spot. His running mate will be Ron Coleman, the only junior in the lineup. Joe Lane will open at the center forward slot. Gus Biggott will handle the chores for the left wing position and Clarence Buss will work on the right. The halfback line will be com posed mostly of sophomores. Frank Fulmer will see his first collegiate action on the right side. Kurt Klaus will start at center half for his initial game. The left halfback position will be in doubt right up to gametime and it may be either veteran George Emig or sophomore Jack Charlton. Ron has been impressive in the pre-season drills and ap pears to be headed for a great year. Former Lion Ace Gels Soccer Job Major Robert 0. Graham, Jr., former Penn State all-American soccer star, has been appointed soccer coach at Stanford Uni versity it was announced by Al Masters, graduate manager of athletics at Stanford.
