FRIDAY, APRIL 14, 1950 May Queen Primary Elections To Take Plaee On Monday Primary elections of the May Queen attd her Maid of Honor will take place in the second flbor lounge of Old Main-Monday, April 17. The final elections are on Wednesday* April 19, among the top three of each position. Nine senior women are seeking the May< Queen title, and six freshman women are up for Maid of Honor. Leatrice Berger, Arlene Con nor, Louise Drozdiak, Beverly Gearhart, Tereas Gonsky, Pa tricia High, Lorraine Stotler, Victoria Williams, and Marie Wrobelski are the May Queen candidates. tfhe Maid of Honor nominees are Barbara Baker, Atherton; June Gernet, Frazier; Jo Hutch eon, Atherton; Sue Knapp, Ath erton; Nancy Showers,. Ather ton; and Dorothy White, Co-op. ' All women students may vote for both the May Queen ' and her Maid of Honor. At the time of'the elections, 65 senior wom en ' may , sign up to participate m the Hemlock chain. The girls m th’e chain assist in making it up. Pictures Displayed Pictures of the candidates are being displayed in Atherton, MacAllister,-McElwain, and Sim mons. The pictures will be at the polls Monday and Wednes day. The two runners-up for May Queen are the senior attendants. The two Maid-of-Honor runners -up will be the freshman attend ants. A special May Day com mittee choses the sophomore and. junior attendants,' plus, the freshman’jesters, - sophomore her alds, and the 20 senior women who make up the . Honor Arch. May Day ceremonies are being held on front campus this year on Saturday, May 13. The day’s program, includes an Open House at the women’s dormitories from 2 to 3:30 p.m.; teas in the lounges from 2:30 to 3:30; the May Day ceremony at 4:30; and a dance in, Recreation Hall in the even T iiig. The Queen and her court will be honored at the > dance. All coeds living in town’ who did not participate in the, election of candidates for May. STATE COLLEGE, PENNSYLVANIA Gamma Phi’s Add Sixth YB Victory The sixth week of intramural yolleyball got underway on Tuesday night with Gamma Phi Beta adding the sixth stroke to its win column by receiving a forfeit from Zeta Tau Alpha. Fresh from their Easter vaca tion Kappa Delta trounced Kap pa Alpha Theta, 41-19 in the sec ond League I game. Gaynell Wagner and Nancy Newcomer led their team in scoring hon ors. ■ A strong second period en abled the undefeated Kappa Kappa Gammas to double up Delta Delta Delta,. 40-20. Jean Malcolm helped to turn the score the Kappa’s way by add ing 15 points. . Delta Gamma registered its third win by edg ing out Chi Omega, 30-23. The DG’s high scoring. Nancy Bodli made 9 points. MacAllisier Win League Ill’s major l- contenders, Mac Allister and McElwain, faced each other on the volleyball court for their second tilt on Wednesday night. This time Mac turned the tables by decisively downing McElwain, 42-20. Ahead by only five points / at. the half, 20-15, Peg Muth and June Dag er helped to sew up the game for Mac. In their previous meet ing, the McElwain volleyers, los ing 12-16 at the half time whistle, pulled together for a final, score of 36-29. With five wins and one loss apiece, these two teams will probably have to get together again to decide the League 111 championship. : Alpha Omicron Pi' and Alpha Xi Delta both failed to show up for, their League 111 game.
