TUESDAY, APRIL 12, 1949 Senate Authorizes Air Force A 3,000 Testing Range WASHINGTON—The Senate passed a bill yesterday author izing the Air Force to set up a 3,000-mile testing range for guided missiles. The Senate made changes in the bill which had already passed the House which will require compromise with the House before the bill goes to the President. As it stands now, the measure authorizes a top cost of 7.5 million dollars for the testing range. VA Cut Recommended Leftists Reiect Plan WASHINGTON A cut of more than 500 million dollars in the amount President Truman asked for the Veterans Adminis tfation was recommended by the House Appropriations Commit tee. The cut was one of several recommended by the committee in a money bill for 28 so-called independent agencies. Also sub ject to a possible cut was the Atomic Energy Commission.
