Tues. and Thurs. 9 ROTC Parades For Army Day Army Day will be observed to day by the Penn State Cadet Corps in its annual ceremony, a prelude to the national celebra tion tomorrow in whit hparades, radio broadcasts, and other cere monies will take place throughout the land. Under the direction of Cadet Sergeant Charles Miller, the 40- piece ROTC band will present a concert of martial music in Schwab auditorium. The pro gram, including a short address by Col. Ben Hur Chastaine, pro fessor of military science and tac tics, will be broadcast through the cooperation of WMAJ and the College speech department. Following the band concert, the cadet battalion will form and parade down the Mall and make a circuit through the business dis trict back to the Old Main lawn. There a formal parade will in troduce formal decoration cere monies. Col. Chastaine, on behalf of the commanding general of the Second Army, will present a cer tificate of proficiency to the Col lege. John Ekey will receive the award for the outstanding engi neerin gcadet, and James Dixon commendation as the outstanding ordnance cadet. Medals signifying designation as distinguished military students will be presented to Dixon, David Malickson, Michael Nakonechay, Frank Phillippbar, Merle Rausch er, Carl Reiter, James Shriver, Earl Spencer, and Hagop Terza gian. Fleming (S) Sec.-treas. Students To Vie For Music Honor Twelve counties in Pennsylvania will be represented at the Col lege on Friday when the Penn sylvania Forensic and Music Lea gue sponsors a contest for high ranking musicians. About 500 high school musicians who have gone through county contests and have won are sched uled to perform throughout the day Friday and will be judged for their ability. Harry A. Brinsmaid, assistant professor of music, will judge pi ano performers; Frank Gullo, as sistant professor of music and Mrs. E. Reynolds, vocal perform ers; and James Dunlop assistant professor of music education, and Rex Rockwell, instructor in mu sic will judge the instrumental performers. Each individual will perform one number selected by the com mittee of music educators and a second number of their own choice.
