THE SUMMER COLLEGIAN STATE COLLEGE, PENNSYLVANIA Lion Gridders Card Nebraska Penn State and Nebraska, foot ball opponents only once in 61 years, will resume relations in 1949 after a lapse of 29 years. They also will meet in 1950. Bob Higgins, who's looking forward to his 19th year as Lion coach, had graduated when the first game was played in 1920, but he watched it from the stands and recalls it vividly. It was in this era; the years immediately following World War I, that Penn State enjoyed its greatest success in football, producing three all-Americans in a row and going through 30 con secutive games without defeat. Way, who was the stand-out in 1920, was the second all-America player to be chosen. Walter Camp had chosen Higgins for an end position in 1919, and Glenn Kil linger was named to a halfback post in 1921. Two years later, in 1923, Joe Bedenk was named to a guard position. Nebraska, returning to the schedule in the middle of what Nittany Lion followers hope is another "golden era," will visit New Beaver Field for the second time on Saturday, October 15, 1949. A year later, on October 21, the Lions will play at Lincoln, Neb.
