But the Speidelmen did come closer to accomplishing this feat, tying the Cadets, 14-14. Last week, the team lost a one-point heart-breaker to Princeton. Next opportunity for the matmen to rack up a win will come on Saturday night, when th e Lions meet Temple in Rec Hall at 8:30 pan. State held a 14_lii edge going into the final bout, but Army’s Lin Matter, 225-pound Earl Blaik footballer, rolled up a liO-l deci sion on Wally Chambers, and the match ended in a tie. MAUREY WINS AGAIN Jim Maurey pulled through again with flying colons in the 145-pound class, experiencing lit tle trouble pinning Herb Turner in 1:44 of the first period. Turner surprised the State ace by gaining an early takedown, but Maurey quickly reversed him, and touch ed his shoulders to the mat in excellent time. PENNSYLVANIA Trackmen Awail indoor Season Dual Meets Include Notre Dame, West Point Two indoor dual track meets, the first against Armv and the i second against Notre Dame, head the list of thirteen indoor events scheduled by Coach Chick Wer iner’s runners tor the 1948 season. The dual meets, both to be run jaway from the College, will pro vide the fortv-six trackmen w! o are practicing daily on the Rec Hall boards with a chance to cli max their workouts. "It's not too late tor runners to sign up for the team," said Coach Werner. "There is a need for men in every clas s from the sprints to the distance races, and since the first dual meet is three weeks away, the starting positions are still wide open." In previous years the team scheduled “big” meets in New York and Boston, and only a select 'ew could attend these events even though the full squad prac ticed for them. With the dual meets included in the winter schedule, almost every man out for the team will have a chance to show his wares before the out door season starts.
