FRIDAY, JANUARY 26, 1945 Ship Ahoy The Winter Ball is now history '—and so is Salty V. Twelve's bankroll, but he's not regretful. Salty and company were one of more than 900 couples who were on board for the biggest dance of the year. In• spite of snow and wind it was plenty hot on deck— especially when the votes for "Winter Ball queen" were count ed. It was a tough fight and close race, but Kappa Kappa Gamma's candidate, Shirley Painter, won the coveted position. Salty V. Twelve wishes to an nounce that the small profit made en the Winter Ball will be turned ever to Navy Relief on behalf of the Navy V-12 unit of this school. IF YOUR Front and Center It is seldom that one hears of the work being done by men of the "silent service,"—the men who man United States submar ines. The Navy imposes strictest secrecy regarding submarine ac tivities, rarely announcing any thing outside of the total num ber of ships sunk by the undersea raiders. Under the Sea However, official information has been disclosed that Lieut. (j.- g.) William Dorworth has been promoted to full lieutenant and cited for meritorious submarine service in the Pacific.
