' PAGE FOUR Frosh-Soph 'Tug Of War' To Decide Custom Removal Freshman coeds will battle in K tug of war to lose customs fol lowing the annual men's contest during the Victory Weekend Field Day at 2 p. m. Saturday, it was decided at a meeting of WSGA senate last night. With a recommendation from "WSGA Judicial Committee, Sen ate voted to give the coeds per mission to remove ribbons, name cards, and customs of holding doors open and stepping on the grass, if they are successful in winning the "tug." Marjorie L. Sykes '43, Judicial chairman, announced that each freshman coed is responsible for bringing one sophomore woman, and that as a team, the frosh should gather beneath the score board on New Beaver Field dur •ing the male tug of war. Capt. William B. Dennis Jr., campus patrol, will judge con testants, who will battle in bare feet, according to Miss Sykes. Julia H. McFarland '45 has been appointed captain of the sophomore team and Helen Mar tin, freshman senator, will direct the underdogs to victory. "If the freshmen fail to pull the sopho mores across the designated line, Senate will set a later date for the removal of customs," Miss Sykes stated. "Winning the con test will mean immediate freedom from those special customs," she added. Dating customs will continue *until move-up day which Senate will set later, according to the report made by the Judicial Com mittee. THE DAILY COLLEGIAN WSGA House Polls Coed Preference In Defense Credit Results of a defense course evaluation poll of sophomore, jun ior, and senior women taken last week by WSGA House of Repre sentatives, show that the major ity of those contacted favored giv ing one College credit to all co eds satisfactorily completing one of the College-sponsored defense courses. One group emphasized that all coeds should be compelled to take one of these courses regardless of credit. Majority, however, sup ported the non-compulsory plan.
