Ward Fleming, .of the Centre County Court of Common Pleas, for Charles, Kloss, who was connected with the former Penn State Cooperative Association. Kloss was arrested on a charge of passing a fraudulent check, but fail ed to appear for his hearing. When officials were unable to locate him, the warrant was issued for his arrest. Cunniff has returned to Penn State to finish work on her M. A. and Ph. D. degrees in the department of bot any. "It is the ambition of every botanist to visit tropical countries and study their flora first hand," Miss Cunniff says. She was given this unusual op portunity while doing graduate work and teaching in the department of botany here in 1926 when her step father, Mr. Raymond B. Stephens, vas appointed Advisor in Foreign Affairs to the'King of Siam. During her stay in Siam; Miss Cur-, riff learned to speak Siamese.fluentlyi and is at the present time preparing a scientific volume which will be printed in that tongue. Final examinations are held at the close of the Nyear in March and the period corresponding to summer re cess extends from that time until the new session begins in May. While here, Miss Cunniff has re sinned, her position as assistant .in the botany department under Dr. J. B. acting head of the department.
