Next Friday—Runners Will Meet Army on April 22 Candidates for baseball, track and lacrosse, although hampered by the spring rains of the last week, have been practicing daily as the opening encounters approach. -The tennis squad opened practice on the macadam courts yesterday. Kept from outdoor drill by Jup Plu vius’ latest capers, candidates for the Lion baseball team' are contenting themselves with indoor practice in Recreation hall until ftiors favorable weather permits regular workouts nn New Beaver field. So far this season the Nittany hine has been able to practice out of doors only three afternoons in preparation for the annual_southem trip, now only ten days away. The Lion batsmen will meet the University of Maryland next Friday, the University of Vir ginia the following afternoon, and Navy on .April 17. Trackmen To Meet Army The lacrosse squad of thirty-five players faces the first scrimmage of the season,, this week under Coach Mike Loebs. With about twenty play erp of former experience on the squad, Miko will probably build his team around Captain Edel in one of the at home positions, and Kane, Hcsch, and Day at the defense posts. Foliowing a poor indoor season, and handicapped by the loss of several capable veterans of last year’s *squad, the Lion trackmen have been work ing steadily for the last week prepar ing for the dual meet with Army here on April 22. Although weak in the quarter-mile and the broad jump events, Coach Cartmell is depending upon Dale and Captain Dunaway as sure point-gath erers. The team is working to make p. better showing against a strong Cadet outfit that handed them an 87- to-39 lacing at the Point last year. I. M. HANDBALL TOURNAMENT .'
