PAGE EIGHT. Some Football Changes Next Fall. Both Cornell and the Navy are to be cut off Manager McKee’s foot ball schedule next fall. The ex cellent games that we have always had on the gridiron with these friendly rivals cannot make up for the tedious, tiresome journeys to Ithaca and Annapolis, especially since our card has been too long and hard during the past few sea sons. But nine, or perhaps only eight, contests will take place next autumn where ten has been the rule. The Indians, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Bucknell and Pitt will be met as usual with Bellefonte Acade my, Grove City and Geneva furn ishing Ihe preliminary, minor strug gles on Beaver Field. The West Vir ginia Mountaineers will also appear here. Lafayette is eagerly insisting on playing “Larry” Vorhis’eleven at Wilkes- Barre or Scranton and if the Indian game can be transferred to Altoona or Williamsport, the Easton team may be played, al though it is preferable that the Maroon and White come to Penn State, which they refuse to do. Williamsport is again anxious for a State football game next fall but Altoona is even more eager to en tertain the White and Blue. The University Club of Altoona, one hundred strong, is making every ef fort to have our eleven play there, and if a good attraction cannot be secured for Beaver Field, a Lafay ette struggle at Wilkes-Barre and the Indian argument at Altoona would seemingly not strike the stu dent body amiss. Altoona is even closer to State than Williamsport and thus we could probably take a greater number of rooters there than to either Wilkes-Barre and Williams port; besides this, the Altoona peo ple are enthusiastic over the idea and promise the freest of hospital ity as well as a profitable crowd. THE STATE COLLEGIAN Interclass Track Meet. ■ Athletic director “Pop” Golden intends to put more stress on the an nual interclass track meet this spring than ever before. Handsome medals were donated by our New York alumni chapter for the inter scholastic meet at the dedication of the new Beaver Field on May 7, and it is confidently believed that excellent trophies for the interclass meet will come from another source. To get out and use the fine new track is an inducement in itself for any sprinter, and it is expected that there will be more men out for the class teams this spring than pre viously, and that the event will be on a higher standard than ever be fore. Several shower-baths for the convenience of the men using the new athletic field will be placed un der the grandstand which is now being erected. 1911 La Vie Board.
